It appears that he made too abrupt of a right turn across the roadway. The ATV's tires skidded and caught and rolled the ATV over. Whitney was ejected onto the roadway. He sustained injuries to his ankles and serious injuries to his head.

A passing motorist saw him laying in the middle of the roadway and his ATV in a ditch. Whitney was transported by ambulance to Hamot Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor in the accident. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reported the investigation is ongoing.
