Holiday Craft & Gift Show Saturday at Fairghrounds

November 7, 2012
The OBSERVER

The second annual Holiday Craft & Gift Show will be held Saturday and features local artisans, crafters and home-based businesses.

The doors will open at 10 a.m. to the Ag & Expo Building of the Chautau-qua County Fairgrounds, 1089 Central Ave. Dunkirk. There will be more than 45 booths. This alternative to mall shopping offers customers some unique and one-of-a-kind items not found in stores. Purchase a hand-painted ornament and have it personalized while you wait. You'll have the opportunity to shop for that very special gift of hand poured candles, bath teas, baked goods, homemade fudge and Christmas decor. There will be silver art, beach glass jewelry, hand woven baskets, glassware, kitchen towels, specialty dips, hard candy, hand-crafted ceramics, stockings and stuffers, yard and garden accessories, hand-turned wood pens, homemade jams, breads and baking mixes, table runners and tree skirts.

Meet musician Scott B. Adams as he plays his holiday CD's. He has forged a career out of capturing landscapes and snippets of history from the Adiron-dacks, the Finger Lakes and New York state, and turning them into lush, acoustic instrumental music compositions. Music from his most recent CDs is featured on the PBS Special, "Adirondack Wild" as well as on various syndicated radio shows such as NPR's "'Echoes" and "The Folk Sampler." His resume includes guest appearances at The White House and with various Orchestras such as the Syracuse Symphony, The Binghamton Philharmonic and the Buffalo Festival Orchestra.

This event has free admission. The Fundraiser booth this year, offering an assortment of silent auction baskets, is hosted by the Balloon Crew Team for the MS Society and food is provided for purchase to benefit the local 4-H. Admission will include a ticket for door prize drawings of $20 each, to be "spent" with the crafter of your choice.
