Editor, OBSERVER:
I took my friend Josephine Stoyle to vote. She is a lifelong resident of Dunkirk and has never missed voting in a presidental election.
She is 98 years old and does not use a walker, glasses or hearing aid. I believe she is the oldest voter who actually turned out at the polls. The first time she voted was in 1932 when Franklin Delano Roosevelt ran against Herbert Hoover.

Josephine Stoyle
She voted for FDR and said her father was a bit of a smart aleck. The family lived on Serval Street and liked FDR but put a Hoover sign in their front window just to make everyone mad. It worked as they soon got a rock hurled right through the window!
