John E. Clark

BELMONT - John E. Clark, 88, of 4149 State Route 19N, Belmont, NY passed away Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2012) at home following a long battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 8, 1924 in Buffalo, NY the son of Harry and Lulu Clark.

On June 11, 1948 in Tulsa, OK he married Faye M. Michener, who survives him.

A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, John served as a co-pilot on a B24 Liberator Bomber.

John was a 1948 graduate of the Cornell School of Agriculture. He was employed for 35 years with the USDA (Farmers Home Administration). The last four years of his career were spent in Juneau, Alaska.

A member of the Scio United Methodist Church, he also belonged to the Belmont American Legion Post, National Rifle Association and the Appalachian Trail Club.

John was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking and canoeing.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by two daughters, Judy Presutti of Dunkirk, NY and Jackie (Robert) Dill of Watkins Glen, NY; one son, David (Roberta) Clark of Campbell, NY; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Presutti, Nicholas Presutti, Julie Lynn Dill, Jeffrey Dill, Jared Clark, Darren Clark and Adam Clark; one great-grandson, Mason Clark; one sister, Louise Lathrop; and also by nieces and a nephew.

Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Sunday (Nov. 11, 2012) from 1 until 3 p.m. at which time services will be held with the Rev. Richard Hurd officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wells-ville, where full military rites will be rendered by the Wellsville American Legion Post 702. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Scio Free Library or the Homecare and Hospice of the Southern Tier.
