Man apparently set self on fire in domestic

JAMESTOWN - A city man allegedly set himself on fire before running into the basement of a two-family home during an apparent domestic incident.

Jamestown Police Department, Jamestown Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance service were called to 121 Palmer St. shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday. JPD officials say a fire was reported in the basement of the two-family residence and the Jamestown Fire Department was called to extinguish the blaze. Scanner reports said a subject had set himself on fire.

Firefighters worked to clear smoke out of the building. Crews were able to retrieve the subject, who sustained serious injures in the fire. He was transported to WCA Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Smoke filled the air around 121 Palmer St., Jamestown on Thursday, as crews worked to put out a fire that began during an apparent domestic incident.

It was unclear at the scene whether the subject lived at the address or if anyone else was in the building at the time of the domestic incident.
