SILVER CREEK - The bills are finally in and the village took action to address the charges for demolition of 207 Central Avenue with the owner of the property.
At the village board meeting last week, the board passed a motion to transfer $31,925 from the unappropriated fund balance into the budget line for demolition of unsafe buildings. This transfer is added to the charges for an asbestos survey ($1,547) and removal of debris ($4,784).
The village had hired D. Blakely Construction to do the demolition for $24,000 with an additional cost not to exceed $4,000 for repairs to the neighboring roof.

Mayor Kurt Lindstrom said this completes the bills for the cost of the demolition.
Resident Anna Frederick-son again attended the meeting to ask if the village will hold the owner responsible for the cost.
Lindstrom addressed the issue during his comments where he read a letter the village's attorney is sending to the owner.
The letter said the building was an immediate public danger and the village had the right to demolish it at the cost of the owner along with a 20 percent fee for the village to oversee the process.
"The demolition costs total $38,303.43. Therefore at this time you are responsible to pay the village $45,965.01. Please contact the village upon receipt of this letter to discuss payment options," the letter read.
The village will now have to wait for the owner's response.
The next meeting will be held on Nov. 19 with a workshop at 7 p.m. and the meeting immediately following.
In other business:
The board approved a transfer of $16,720 from the sewer unappropriated fund balance to the sewer equipment fund.
Trustee Thomas Harmon said the change to garbage stickers is moving forward and the village's garbage company was reportedly in favor of the change. Harmon said he was told some residents try to paint garbage bags to look like village bags and that stickers will be harder to forge and will save the village 20 percent over bags.
The board entered into executive session at the end of the meeting to discuss pending litigation.
