Twenty years ago - 1992
Former Silver Creek resident William K. Statz has been promoted to major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William V. Statz of Stebbins Road, Silver Creek. A 1979 alumnus of Silver Creek Central school, Maj. Statz also graduated from SUNY Fredonia and the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is currently a doctor of osteopathic medicine with the U.S. Army Medical Corps and resides in San Antonio, Texas.
Thirty years ago - 1982
The Dunkirk Kiwanis Club has provided about $3,500 for renovations to the Children's Room of the Dunkirk Free Library. This included the laying of wall-to-wall carpeting and the fabrication and installation of window screens for that room. Funds for the project were raised through the Kiwanis' geranium sale, the submarine sandwich stand at the County Fair and the Italian dinner.
Forty years ago - 1972
Karen Benz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Prinzi of Sheridan Center Road, Sheridan is the Calendar Girl of the Month. She is a senior at Silver Creek Central School.
Fifty years ago - 1962
The gala grand opening of Hartley Rambler Inc. at Route 20 and McAllister Road in Fredonia was held earlier this month. Murray Hartley is president.
