WESTFIELD - On Friday and Saturday, Westfield High School will be presenting its annual dinner theatre "Lucky Duck," music by Henry Krieger, lyrics by Bill Russell.
Best known for their work on "Dreamgirls," Bill Russell and Henry Krieger wanted to create a fun musical for children and "Lucky Duck" was the result. Serena (played by Ashley Poletto) has been raised by a family of ducks, but she knows she just doesn't seem to fit in. She sees herself destined for stardom, but she just needs to catch a break. Lucky for her, the king (Kenny Wood) sponsors a singing contest and she gets her chance. With the assistance of an errant Wolf (Greg Momberger) and her publicist Goosetella (Mackenzi Habig) she not only amazes the barnyard world with her voice, but she also discovers that she isn't just an ugly duckling.
Farm animals really hit the stage in this jazzy, fun musical where they will sing and dance the message to life, perfect for families and kids of all ages.
