The OBSERVER

JAMESTOWN - New York State Assemblyman Andy Goodell was the guest speaker for an American Society and Public Policy class at Jamestown Business College (JBC) on Nov. 3. More than 60 students participated in the presentation and discussion.

Assemblyman Goodell opened his remarks by complimenting the school on its hard-working and professional students. He also thanked the college for the opportunity to be a part of their education and learning.

Assemblyman Goodell provided students with his perspective on key political issues facing New Yorkers, and in particular, Chautauqua County. He showed how these issues play out in the political arena, and how they could make or break an election. Following this, he discussed the differences among the political parties and how these translate into ideologies, political stances, and ultimately decision-making.

New York State Assemblyman Andy Goodell was the guest speaker for an American Society and Public Policy class at Jamestown Business College.

He finished his presentation on key issues raised by JBC students regarding voter registration, health care, job creation, and New York State's tax cap. Students were able to ask questions and provide feedback throughout the presentation. Participants received a first-hand look into how the political system works and has evolved over the years.

JBC Instructor Joseph Pillttere said that he was impressed by the interaction of the students and Assemblyman Goodell.

"The students were definitely challenged to consider the political system as a whole and the timeliness of the presentation made the experience even more meaningful." Pillittere goes on to say, "JBC prides itself on putting students first, especially when it comes to learning. Guest speakers enhance and complement a course by providing additional expertise and experience to the learning environment. "
