Dunkirk DMV open house on Friday

An open house and grand-opening ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Dunkirk Department of Motor Vehicles at its new location, 3988 Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk, on Friday at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to attend the open house following the ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Driver Safety Class: Free for veterans and spouses

A driver safety class, sponsored by the AARP, is set for Nov. 20 and 21, 6 to 9:15 p.m., at the Farman Free Library in Ellington. The course is videotape-driven, with a manual, covering a variety of topics, such as flexibility exercises, signage, health matters, DWI, and other issues.

For November, the class is free for military veterans and their spouses. For others, the charge is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members. Participants should pay by check or money order; cash cannot be accepted.

Participants may save up to 10 percent off their car insurance costs, and may eliminate up to three points off their licenses.

Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast on Sunday

Cassadaga Valley Kiwanis will host a Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast on Sunday from 8-10 a.m.

The event will be held at Applebee's Restaurant on Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased from any CV Kiwanis member or by calling 962-2178. All proceeds support scholarships for CVC High School Seniors.
