Each Thanksgiving, a group of flamingos rise above the turkeys in Buffalo.
This group of several dozen Fredonia-area women dress in pink as "Flying Flamingos" - decked out in flamingo hats - and participate in the 8-kilometer Turkey Trot race on Delaware Avenue. While doing so, the flock raises money for a charitable cause.
This year, the flamingos again will raise funds for "Dream On," the Kathy Seastedt Community Support Fund. Seastedt was a 25-year employee of The Resource Center when she passed away unexpectedly in 2008.
To make a donation to the Dream On fund in support of the Flying Flamingos' efforts, it is possible to do so in one of two ways - by making an online donation at www.firstgiving.com/trcfoundation or by making a check payable to "TRC Foundation/Flamingos" and sending it to TRC Foundation, 200 Dunham Ave., Jamestown, NY, 14701.
