Traffic stop leads to drug charge
SINCLAIRVILLE - On Sunday, Jenice Smith, 30 of Buffalo was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
A state trooper from Jamestown pulled over Smith's vehicle for failing to dim high beams. While speaking to Smith, the officer reportedly smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. The trooper reportedly located a container with marijuana on Smith's person and another container of marijuana in the vehicle.
Smith was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Gerry Court at a later date.
Frewsburg teen charged with drug possession
FREWSBURG - On Wednesday, Devin Haskins, 16, of Frewsburg was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
State troopers from Jamestown were called to South Pearl Street for a report of a suspicious vehicle. An officer located the vehicle and two subjects near it.
The trooper reported seeing a plastic jar containing marijuana sticking out of Haskins' coat pocket. Haskins was issued an appearance ticket for the Town of Carroll Court.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office
Around 3:02 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Jamestown Street in the Village of Sinclairville. The suspect vehicle was stopped for the violation and Kevin D. Lesch, 35, of Cassadaga, was found to be the operator. After further investigation, police allegedly found Lesch to be intoxicated and was subsequently issued traffic tickets and is to appear in Town of Charlotte court at a later date.
Emilee Carlson, 19, of Mayville, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a car that was parked at a residence on Elmwood Road in the Town of Chautauqua. Carlson was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date.
Westfield Police Department
Around 2:12 a.m., officers on patrol allegedly observed a vehicle cross the center line and white fog line of the roadway multiple times while traveling on South Portage Street. Upon investigation, the vehicle was found to be operated by Bryan Precop, 26, of Ajax, Ontario, who was allegedly found to be intoxicated. Precop was arraigned in the Village of Westfield on the charges and posted bail set at $1,500 before being released.
