I take offense to the "OBSERVER's View" opinion on the election (Nov. 9).
You state, "we'll have progress, if (the president) is willing to compromise and recognize the mistakes of his first term."
Mistakes of his first term, let's see; ending the wars, saving the auto industry, providing medical insurance to the poor, keeping us safe from terrorists... should I go on?
The president's willingness to compromise was evident on many occasions during his first term.
It was Republican obstruction that caused any inaction. Remember the pledge to not raise revenues the GOP made to Grover Norquist, causing the rating drop.
Remember when the U.S. faced economic collapse at the beginning of his administration and the Republicans stated number one goal, to make him a one term president. Well they failed, and now it's time to pay the piper.
Time to compromise Republicans. American's are not stupid. They re-elected President Barack Obama for the same reason they elected him the first time, to clean up the mess left by the previous administration, and to make America great again.
Why penalize girls coverage?
I was happy to see coverage for the 13th annual Chautauqua County Senior Girls Soccer All-Star Game compliments of Rob Tucker.
Mr. Tucker did a nice write up but it was unfortunate that the OBSERVER did not publish the entire article in the Nov. 12 edition, only at observertoday.com.
Those not checking online missed the last two paragraphs, one of which happened to be my daughter's moment of glory giving her recognition for a save against the Blue team aiding in the shutout victory for the White Team, and the other which named the MVP's and scholarship winners.
Isn't the girls sports coverage just as important as the boys and worthy of full publication?
