Twenty years ago - 1992
Kimberly Brown, a cosmetology student at BOCES Fredonia, was recently selected as the BOCES Student of the Week. She is a senior and past Homecoming Queen at Fredonia High School, where she has been active in cheerleading. The daughter of Thomas and Diane Brown of Cottage Street, Fredonia, Kimberly hopes to one day operate her own salon.
Thirty years ago - 1982
Linda Budniewski was the lucky winner in DaVinci's "Guess How Many Gold Hearts Are In The Jar" contest recently held by the Fredonia jewelry firm. No purchase was necessary, just the correct or closest guess. Linda guessed 2,733 and the actual count was 2,734 and she won a genuine diamond pendant on a 14k chain. DaVinci's is owned by Dahlia Kreindler.
Forty years ago - 1972
After months of haranguing, the Erie County Legislature has decided that the new sports facility under construction in suburban Orchard Park will be named commercially. The legislators voted to accept a $1.5 million offer by Rich Products Inc. and agreed to name the new arena "Rich Stadium." The company originally wanted the name "Coffee Rich Park."
Fifty years ago - 1962
A new bakery, "La Patisserie," has been opened in the Russo Building in Fredonia. It is a division of the Westfield Home Bakery and is owned by Robert Mills.
