COLLINS - Robin J. Mentley, 68, of Bagdad Road, Collins passed away Sunday (Nov. 18, 2012) at her home.
She was born Oct. 4, 1944 in Gowanda, NY, the daughter of the late Carl Johengen and Arlene (Krebs) Johengen-Herrington of Collins, NY.
Mrs. Mentley had been an elementary teacher in the Gowanda Central School District for 32 years, retiring in 1999. She graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor's degree and then from SUNY Fredonia with her Master's degree.
She was a member of the NYS Teachers Association, Friends of the Library and was on the Collins Library Board. She also attended the First Presbyterian Church in Gowanda, NY.
Mrs. Mentley enjoyed traveling with her husband, having lunch with her friends and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She was married to Richard B. Mentley for 44 years. He passed away Nov. 18, 2010.
Survivors include a son, Rich (Tara) Mentley of Collins, NY; a daughter, Heather (Thomas) Hancock of Erie, Pa.; six grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, Julianna, CJ, Mickey and Autumn; two brothers, Michael (Betty Jo) Johengen of Gowanda, NY and Thomas (Terry Grimm) Herrington of Collins, NY; three sisters, Anne (Jack) Vogtli of Florida, Mary (Louie) Bobsein of Pendleton, NY and Jeri (Mark) Serrianne of Lockport, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 East Main Street, Gowanda, NY on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Donna Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Collins Center Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2816 Elmwood Ave., Erie, Pa. 16508.
