Six Veterans were honored on Veterans Day by members of Dunkirk Memorial Post 62 along with members of Frank Acquavia Post 1344 and the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Honor Guard at St. Vincent's Nursing Home, Dunkirk.
John O'Hara, Henry Bielat, Peter Scott, John Jesse, Ray Weaver and Frank Halicki, all veteran residents at St. Vincent's, were given gift certificates donated by Tim Hortons and presented by Dave and Gina Kron, owner-managers of the Tim Hortons stores in Dunkirk-Fredonia.
The ceremonies began with the lowering of the flag to half mast, followed by three volleys by the firing squad of the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Honor Guard and playing of Taps. Then the honors continued inside the facility with speeches and prayers by members of both posts and music by St. Vincent's staff.
