Dunkirk Yacht Club holds fall banquet

The Dunkirk Yacht Club installed officers and directors for the 2013 season at the fall banquet held at Shorewood Country Club. Presented with flags of Office by incoming Commodore Cody Britton were: Vice Commodore Jim Rizzo, Rear Commodore Paul Wallen-horst, Treasurer Robyn Beardsley, Secretary Rachel Foley and Past Commodore Bill Wright

Serving on the Board of Directors will be Richard Cieslewicz, Donald Elling-ton, Scott Mackay, Kathy Peters, Nancy Steffan and Larry VanDeusen. Ed Will will serve as dockmaster and Sylvia Bailey will do the newsletter. Colleen Wright was presented with a bouquet of roses by incoming Commodore Britton in appreciation of all the work she did this season.

Members of the DYC family who passed away this year were remembered: Jane Wright, Mike McKinnon and Cathy Wojcinski.

There were three new members this season: Bill Groves, Anthony Landis and Tom Safford. Member Bob Hofgren achieved life membership.

The "T" Cup was presented by Kathy Fox, last year's recipient, to Beardsley in recognition of her efforts promoting and encouraging sailing, boating and racing.

The "Sloppy Sailor Award" winner announced by Tom Lafferty, standing in for last year's recipient, Jason Schmidt, was Ken Kuwik, who earned the honor with his navigation skills entering Buffalo waters.

Earlier, outgoing Com-modore Wright thanked those members who had served on the board: Vice Commodore Cody Britton, Rear Commodore Jim Rizzo, Past Commodore Carl Bju Treasurer Larry VanDeusen, Secretary Paul Wallenhorst, and committee chairmen: Bob Beardsley, house; Marv Bjurlin, education; Lydia Evans, social; Jim Rizzo, facilities; Nancy Steffan, membership; Jarratt Tun-stall, race and recreation; Ed Will, dockmaster, and Sylvia Bailey, newsletter. He presented them with gifts of appreciation.

Brett and Jenn Christy were in charge of dinner arrangements and reservations for the evening. Musical entertainment was provided by Krista Seddon and Mike Moser.
