Church features guest speaker Sunday

CASSADAGA - The Rev. Shirley Calkins Smith is the featured guest speaker at Universal Unity of Spirit. Her topic is "As God Is My Witness." Smith is well-known as a workshop leader and inspirational lecturer. All are welcome to attend the inter-faith services which begin at 1 p.m. with a healing service and a prayer chaplain is also available during this time for personal prayer. Smith's lecture/lesson begins at 1:30 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. The church is located at 89 N. Main St. (Route 60) in Cassadaga. Advent services set

Wednesday Advent services will be held on Nov. 28, Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Worship will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Vicar Kenneth Zitsch officiating. These services will explore the prospect of living a life of joy, hope, love and peace as the congregation anticipates the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Following the service, a light luncheon will be served. This is free to the public and all are invited as they "prepare the way of the Lord." The church is located at 15 Porter Ave. in Silver Creek.

St. Anthony's plans children's Christmas party, barn Mass

FARNHAM - St. Anthony's of Farnham will have a children's Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 8 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the church hall located at 417 Commercial St., Farnham. Join in for an afternoon of crafts, games and fun, plus a visit from Santa. Each guest is asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the parish food collection for those in need.

The church will have its annual barn Mass on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Brant Town Park located on Route 249. Immediately following Mass, refreshments, baked goods and warmth will be provided in the senior center. Donations of Christmas ornaments to help decorate the Christmas tree will be graciously accepted.

Reverend to speak on hope

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua announces that the Rev. Theresa Kime will speak on Sunday. Kime's sermon, "On Hope" will explore what hope might mean for us individually and as a UU religious community. All are welcome to attend this service.

During the service, nursery care will be available for children under the age of 5. Grades K-4 and Coming of Age classes will meet with their teachers for Religious Exploration.
