Local soldiers receive New York Army National Guard promotions

LATHAM - Major General Patrick A. Murphy, adjutant general for the state of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capabilities for additional responsibility and leadership.

Bruce Drajem of Gowanda, and serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Richard Santiago of Dunkirk, and serving with the Company A, 642nd Support Battalion is promoted to the rank of Private.

Shawn Kulig of Dunkirk, and serving with the Company D, (Forward Support Company, Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition) 427th Brigade Support Battalion is promoted to the rank of Private 1st Class.

These promotions additionally recognize the best qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.
