Silver Creek Middle School announces Students of the Month

SILVER CREEK - The Silver Creek Central Middle School announces the Students of the Month for September. The students were selected based on the following criteria: strong work ethic, dependability, helpfulness, respectfulness and cooperation with others.

The sixth-grade recipients are Justin Didas and Mckenna Steklasa.

Justin is the son of Laurie and Joseph Didas of Sheridan. Justin participates in baseball, is an active member of his church, enjoys going places with his grandfather, and riding his dirt bike. Justin would one day like to be a heavy equipment operator.

McKenna Steklasa is the daughter of Kim and Steve Steklasa of Sheridan. McKenna enjoys playing soccer and participates in gymnastics, tap and jazz dance. Her favorite activities include jumping on the trampoline, bowling and playing with her dogs. Her goal is to become a teacher.

The seventh-grade recipients are Brandon Birner and Lauren Grover.

Brandon is the son of Gregory and Elizabeth Birner of Silver Creek. Within school he is secretary of Middle School Student Council and first chair baritone for the middle school band. Brandon also participates in modified soccer where he was team captain. Outside of school, Brandon plays for NCSA Concord Travel Soccer Team and Summer Soccer Team. Brandon enjoys spending time with family and friends, camps and hikes. He hopes to one day be a pharmacist or athletic trainer.

Lauren is the daughter of Kimberly and Gary Grover of Silver Creek. Within School, she participates in volleyball, Broadcast, Yearbook and Spanish clubs. Lauren's favorite activities are collecting pigs, reading and writing, and hanging out with her friends. Lauren is interested in exploring numerous professions as she grows up to include architect, archeologist, professor, baker, doctor or lawyer.

The eighth-grade recipients are Taylor Steeprock and Jonathan Pulver.

Taylor is daughter of Christine and Kelly Steeprock of Sheridan. Within school, Taylor participates on the cross country team. She enjoys reading, listening to music, bead work, speaking Seneca and spending time with her family. Taylor's goal is to become a heart surgeon, neurologist or a lawyer.

Jonathan is the son of Scott and Carol Pulver of Irving. Within school, Jonathan participates in soccer, basketball, baseball, Broadcast Club and Jazz Band. His favorite activities include playing the piano, saxophone and participating in Christ Chapel Youth Group. Jonathan's goal is to become a sports statistician.
