Gas price unchanged
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have not moved in the past week, averaging $3.84/g Sunday. This compares with the national average that has not moved in the last week to $3.43/g, according to gasoline price website RochesterGasPrices.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 29.0 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 10.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 14.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 11.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
Cherry Creek Fire District commissioners meet Wednesday
The regular meeting of the Cherry Creek Fire District commissioners will be held on Wednesday at the Cherry Creek fire hall, starting at 7 p.m. This meeting is open to the public.
Presentation to explore significance of Two Row Wampum at SUNY Fredonia
A presentation and display to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Two Row Wampum, the first agreement between Europeans and the original inhabitants of Turtle Island (the North American continent), will be held Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in 209 McEwen Hall.
Dr. Richard Harness, associate professor emeritus of Monroe Community College, will display replica wampum belts assembled over a five-year period and also deliver a PowerPoint presentation on the belts and their significance.
Jamie Jacobs, who works as a collections assistant with the New York Rochester Museum and Science Center and is also a cultural and historical educator with Tonawanda Seneca Indians, will discuss the importance of the Two Row Wampum. That agreement outlined a model of friendship and peace, of living in parallel forever, working together where appropriate and respecting one's sovereignty.
The program is free and open to the public.
Hanover Gateway Access 12 holiday events
Gateway Access 12 is the local access television station in the Town of Hanover. Channel 12 invites all area community groups, non-profits and churches to submit requests for airing holiday events on the Channel 12 television bulletin board. It's an easy way to spread the word about Christmas bazaars, church services, bake sales and holiday programs.

Gateway Access 12 provides a 24-hour community bulletin board and a regular weekly program of evening shows from Access Channel 5 in Mayville. The Channel 5 shows air between 7 and 10 p.m. and repeat each evening. The Senior Report with Reed Powers airs live every Saturday at 9 a.m. from Mayville. The show features Reed Powers who conducts lively discussions with guests from around the region.
Brocton Library to hold educational workshop on Native Americans
The Ahira Hall Memorial Library in Brocton will hold an educational workshop on the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) tribe on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. honoring Native American Heritage Month. Cassadaga Job Corps will host tour and informational meeting
A tour and informational session will be held at the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy, 8115 Glasgow Road, Cassadaga Thursday at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in learning more about Job Corps, the programs it offers and about life on campus is welcome to attend. Job Corps provides people ages 16-24 with career technical training and the education needed to enter a career in a high-demand occupation. Applicants must meet federal admissions criteria for income and readiness. All students accepted attend Job Corps on a full scholarship and must remain committed to a rigorous education and training program to remain enrolled.
Cassadaga Job Corps offers training in the healthcare and construction industries and enrolls both residential and non-residential students from throughout Chautauqua County. Family budgeting and nutrition program starts Friday
On Friday, Nov. 30, from noon to 12:30 p.m., representatives from the Cooperative Extension will begin presenting their program on Family Budgeting and Nutrition at the Sinclairville Free Library.
