BRANT - A two-car accident seriously injured a mother and left her infant daughter dead in the town of Brant on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Tuesday morning. The accident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Route 20.

According to Erie County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle driven by Danielle Kellogg, 24, of Brant was traveling westbound when the SUV she was operating crossed the center line. Kellogg's vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Denise Hine, 31, of Hamburg. A 7-month-old female passenger was in the back seat of the vehicle in a carseat. The collision caused Hine's vehicle to split in half.

The infant girl was taken to Lake Shore Hospital by ambulance where she was pronounced dead. Hine was transported to Erie County Medical Center by helicopter where she is listed in serious condition.

Kellogg was transported to ECMC where she was treated and released. Kellogg was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. The accident is still under investigation by the accident investigation unit. Additional charges are pending.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals, Brant Police Department, New York State Police, Mercy Flight and the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Fire Company.
