There were reports of a funnel cloud forming in the city Wednesday morning over Lake Erie, but they could not be confirmed by the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
While the weather service had received no reports of the funnel cloud, Meteorologist Jeff Wood said it is possible.
"It's typically late in the year for (funnel clouds) but it's possible when you have showers over the lake," Wood said.
Earlier Wednesday morning, there were reports of showers over the lake, according to Wood. He explained that funnel clouds could easily be mistaken.
"A lot of things look like (funnel clouds)," he said.
Without physically seeing the cloud, Wood said he could not confirm if it truly was a funnel cloud. Wood said that the cloud should not produce a tornado. There were no reports of any in the area Wednesday.
