Busy Friday set at Steele Hall

Three Blue Devils are Invitational top seeds

Three members of the Fredonia State men's swimming and diving team are No. 1 seeds in their respective events heading into the home Blue Devil Invitational starting Friday.

Senior diver Ryan Fuller has posted the best times so far this season in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events.

In addition, two junior swimmers also earned No. 1 pre-meet seeds - John Estanislau in the 50-yard freestyle, and Adrian Van Hall in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Fredonia State's fastest 800-yard freestyle relay quartet has posted the best time in the event this fall compared to those of the other seven schools entered in the three-day meet.

Penn State Behrend has the most top seeds overall with seven, followed by the Blue Devils and Potsdam with five each, and St. Vincent with three.

Teams from Baldwin Wallace, Brockport, Oswego, and Pitt-Bradford will also compete.

The meet is broken down into five sessions - 4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The Saturday and Sunday sessions will be webcast on the Fredonia State Athletics UStream channel.

Lodinsky seeded No. 1 in three Invitational events

Fredonia State senior Lizzie Lodinsky (Buffalo) is the No. 1 seed in three events heading into the eighth annual Blue Devil Invitational this weekend at the Steele Hall Natatorium.

Lodinsky has the fastest seeded timse in the 200-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle, and the 1,650-yard freestyle. She could potentially compete in all three beginning with the 1,650 during Friday's 4 p.m. session.

Sessions are also scheduled for 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The Saturday and Sunday sessions will be webcast via the Fredonia State Athletics UStream channel.

Two other Fredonia State women swimmers enter the meet as No. 1 seeds in two events - freshman Natalia Wilkins (Merrick) in the 200-yard and 400-yard individual medleys, and sophomore Steph Rosa (Phillipsburg, N.J.) in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes.

In adition, senior diver Sarah Ficarro (Owego) is the top seed off both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.

Fredonia State accounts for 11 top seeds overall, most of any of the women's teams, including the fastest pre-meet times in the 400-yard and 800-yard freestyle relays.

St. Vincent has three No. 1 seeds, Baldwin Wallace and Brockport two each, and Pitt-Bradford one.

Women from Oswego, Penn State Behrend, and Potsdam will also compete.
