Westfield-Ripley-Chautauqua Lake takes down?Southwestern

JAMESTOWN - The Ripley-Westfield-Chautauqua Lake team pulled off a big 48-26 victory over Southwestern on Thursday to kick off the CCAA Division 1 high school wrestling season.

At 152-pounds, Dominique Rammelt pinned Nick Mest in just :50. Meanwhile, at 182, Tyler Furlow earned six points for his team with a pinfall over Ben Swanson at 2:08.

At 120, Roger Williams pinned Southwestern's Mitchell Johnson at 135 and Dyland Lundmark earned an 18-1 technical fall over Delaney Stewart.

Gowanda 47,

Olean 30

GOWANDA - Gowanda (1-0) kicked off its wrestling season in style with a 47-30 win over CCAA Division 1 foe Olean (0-1) on Thursday.

Lucas McKeever (145 pounds), Cody Richter (152) and Nate Meyers (285) all recorded pins in their respective matches.

Meyers recorded his pin in just 58 seconds over Olean's Shawn Williams.

Also victorious for Gowanda were John Flynn (113), Kevin Frederickson (132) and David Huff (106).

The Panthers were aided by forfeits at 99, 138, and 160 pounds.

Drew Mara (126), Quintin Ellis (170), Jaylen Roulo (182), Brad Painter (195) and Jaquarius Ullmer (220) recorded pins for the Huskies.

Gowanda will participate in the Maple Grove tournament, Saturday.
