Playing with fire cause of King St. blaze

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team and the Dunkirk Police Department have determined a cause for the Nov. 27 fire at 184 King St. in Dunkirk.

On scene investigation determined that the fire started at floor level at the southside door that led to the kitchen of the residence. Further investigation determined that a child at the residence was playing with fire in the kitchen of the residence. This led to the structure fire.

The fire was first reported at 5:48 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the structure was fully involved. It sustained heavy damage.

The Fire Investigation Team and Dunkirk police are continuing their investigation.
