Twenty years ago - 1992

At the recent meeting of the Hanover Lodge 152 F&AM, Master Richard Mosher presented Michael Valvo with the Dewitt Clinton Award, which is given to non-Masons in appreciation of their service. Mr. Valvo was chosen as the recipient based on his dedication to the Forestville Fire Department and 35-year membership in the rescue squad. He also has served on the Forestville Village Board and was a longtime member of the school board, PTA, Little League and Boy Scouts, among others.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Downtown Dunkirk will have a new jewelry store beginning this week when Dodson's Jewelry Store opens its doors at 318 Central Ave. Eric Johnston is the store manager. Dodson's is located at the site of the former Leed's Jewelers.

Forty years ago - 1972

Dr. William Chazanof, Fredonia State history professor, recently received an Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History for his book, "Joseph Ellicott and the Holland Land Company."

Fifty years ago - 1962

William Przytula, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Przytula of Webster Road, Brocton has been honored by the faculty of Brocton Central School as "outstanding teenager of the week."
