Water users in Fredonia are back to normalcy, especially the businesses, as the Chautauqua County Health Department ended the boil-water advisory that lasted for almost six days.
But while some village employees worked extra hours to get the system back in working order, don't feel too bad for those people or the village. While it was an inconvenience, those workers made out in terms of money.
Village businesses, however, did not fare as well. At some downtown bars and restaurants, the boil-water advisory led to fewer customers and less revenues during the holidays. At Carriage House, the facility relied on Dunkirk's water.
It was an inconvenience. One that could have possibly been avoided.
Who will ultimately end up paying for the inconvenience and lack of attention to detail? The users, of course - those same ones who lost customers and work days due to the problem.
