James J. Mattone "Rock" died Dec. 1, 2012 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY following an ex- tended illness.
He was born Aug. 22, 1946 in Dunkirk, NY to the late James and Jennie (Saccamano) Mattone.
He was a member of the Fredonia High School Class of 1964. During his younger years, James was employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation in Dunkirk, NY. He was also involved in the trucking industry. He was owner operator of Jimmy Jack Trucking and worked for various local trucking companies, including St. George's Corporation of Fredonia, NY and as a trucker broker for J & R Trucking Corporation in Fredonia, NY.
James would often be seen sitting on a park bench in Barker Common Square in Fredonia talking with his many friends. He was a kind and generous person to all.
James is survived by a sister, Kay Bonell of Michigan and one brother, Ron Bielat of Fredonia, NY. He is predeceased by a sister, Janice Dungan, a step - father, Walter Bielat. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thurs- day, Dec. 6, 2012 at 10 AM at Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass and may call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, NY on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sheridan, NY.
