Five Westfield Band students have been selected for the 2012 New York State School Music Association Area All State Festivals. The students competed against other band students from Chautauqua, Erie, Cattaraugus, Orleans and Niagara counties for positions in these honors ensembles. They prepared and performed solos for the NYSSMA Solo Festival last spring, and their scores served as their audition for Area All State.
Junior High Band students Kylan Connolly (trombone), Cameron Abbey-Mott (trombone), Cassia Connolly (oboe), and Alaina Cockram (French horn) attended their festival in Akron. They spent Friday afternoon and evening as well as Saturday rehearsing with a guest conductor, and presented a concert on Saturday afternoon. Senior High Band member Emma Fermier (clarinet) did the same at the Senior High Festival at SUNY Fredonia.
