Christmas at war

My most memorable Christmas was that of 1944 during WWII. On Christmas Eve I landed on the coast of New Guinea as a sergeant in the Cavalry enroute to combat duty. The Army gave us a complete Christmas dinner. It was my last meal other than C-rations or K-rations for many months. It was a day I won't forget.
