The Dunkirk Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire at 265 Lake Shore Drive East on Monday morning at 9:38 a.m. Arriving units found a fully involved garage at the rear of the property. Crews used a 2 1/2 inch line to knock down the main body of fire, and a 1 3/4 inch line to hit remaining hot spots. The garage sustained significant damage to the roof and front portion of the building.
The cause of the fire was the use of a torch for soldering pipe that ignited paint brushes and turpentine that were stored in the garage. The cause is accidental with human involvement.
