Chadwick Bay board to meet Thursday
The next Chadwick Bay Regional Development Corporation Board of Direc-tors meeting will be Thurs-day at 5:30 p.m. at Shore-wood Country Club on Route 5 in the town of Dunkirk. The host community is the town of Dunkirk.
Collecting for troops in Afghanistan
Cassadaga Memorial Post 1680, the Vietnam Veterans Association, and the Modern Day War Veterans are joining forces to collect goods to send to our troops in Afghanistan.
Items that are needed are: silly string (used to identify trip wires), hard candy, stationery, pens and pencils, playing cards, checkers, toiletries (nothing with strong odors), lap blankets, and phone cards. Cash contributions are also welcome.
Items may be dropped off at Post 1680, 228 Maple St. in Cassadaga; the Vietnam Veterans Association at 41 Bigelow St.; or Patton's Electric on Bennett Road (Route 60) in Fredonia.

Collage Performing Arts Center
performances set for
Thursday and Friday
Dancers from the Collage Performing Arts Center will perform in "Christmas in Our Home Town" on Thursday and Friday. The performances will be at the Fredonia Opera House starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12. To purchase tickets, contact the opera house at 679-1891.
Dunkirk school board meeting Thursday
The Dunkirk Board of Education will hold its regular December meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Room at the high school, 75 West Sixth St., Dunkirk. This meeting is open to the public.
Midweek Vespers to feature Pot Luck Worship
Chautauqua-Hurlbut Community Church in Chautauqua Institution will present Pot Luck Worship at its Midweek Vesper worship service Wednesday. The monthly family music and arts worship event will begin with a 5:30 p.m. pot luck dinner, with the service beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Coordinator Bill Ward will host an open mic-style service, with worship contributions from community members.
Persons wishing to contribute to the service may contact Ward at wardwill@gmail.com or at 753-2800. Participants may also sign up for the service during the dinner hour.
The Midweek Vespers is a music and arts-based worship service with a minimum of spoken word. It is presented one Wednesday a month in Hurlbut Church, Pratt at Scott Avenues, Chautauqua. Faith Weaver, a children's supervised bible experience, is provided separately during the service.
The community is welcome, free of charge, to every Vespers service and dinner. Donations and pot luck dinner contributions are not necessary, but appreciated. For information, visit www.hurlbutchurch.org or call 357-4045.
Gas prices fall
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 5.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.74/g Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.34/g, according to gasoline price website RochesterGasPrices.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 24.0 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 13.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 12.2 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 5.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
