Twenty years ago - 1992
The nearly 17-year-old steeple at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Dunkirk is being repaired by Campbellsville Construction Co. of Kentucky, the company that originally fabricated the steeple. The work was necessitated by the recent wind storm, which detached two panels from the structure. The steeple is further being secured and repaired.
Thirty years ago - 1982
Asalyn DuBois has been named Student of the Week at Gowanda Central School. A member of the National Honor Society, she serves as treasurer of the Student Council. Ranked in the top 10 of her senior class, Asalyn is majoring in math and science. She hopes to pursue a career in business administration with emphasis in economics.
Forty years ago - 1972
Two Dunkirk women recently passed the licensing exam for registered professional nurses. They are Mrs. Mary Ann Sheehan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Maslakowski, 785 Park Ave., and Mrs. Linda A. Levandoski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aloysius S. Pawloski, 215 King St.
Fifty years ago - 1962
An award of an honorary associate membership on the Board of Christian Education of the United Presbyterian Church was given to Mrs. Russell Birdsey of Silver Creek at the Women's Association meeting. The award is given for "long and faithful service to the work of the church."
