FORESTVILLE - Sydney Youngberg and Alicia Szumigala tied for the game-high with 13 points as the Forestville Lady Hornets (3-1) edged the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (0-3), 35-33, in non-league girls basketball action.
Szumigala added a game-high 11 rebounds to go with three steals while Youngberg chipped in nine rebounds.
The difference in the game came in the second quarter when the Lady Hornets were able to hold the Lady Hillbillies to two points. Down 10-6, Forestville outscored Fredonia, 9-2, to take a 15-12 lead into halftime.
The Lady Hillbillies edged the Lady Hornets, 21-20, in the second half, but could not complete the comeback, failing to pick up their first win of the season.
Olivia Pucciarelli led Fredonia with nine points while Frankie Sysol chipped in four points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Silver Creek 57,
North Collins 17
NORTH COLLINS - Jordan Brooks had 20 points, five rebounds and three steals as Silver Creek (2-2) defeated North Collins, 57-17, in non-league girls basketball action Tuesday.
Silver Creek held North Collins to two points in the first quarter and just six in the second, taking a 31-8 lead into halftime. The Black Knights continued to dominate the Lady Eagles in the second half, outscoring North Collins 14-3 in the third quarter and 12-6 in the fourth.
Marissa Donovan, Cora Utegg and Makalah Jones all scored six points in the win while Jade Lewis had a game-high 10 assists, chipping in three steals.
For North Collins, Christine Blidy and Emily Swiatkowski each had seven points.
Westfield 47,
Ripley 25
WESTFIELD - The Westfield Lady Wolverines (2-2) received a balanced scoring attack in taking down the Ripley Lady Eagles (0-1), 47-25, Tuesday in non-league girls high school basketball.
Ten different players scored for the Lady Wolverines, headed by Miranda Warner, Nina Manzella and Abigail Jopek who all had eight points.
Jopek also had six rebounds and four steals while Manzella dished out three assists.
The home team took a 12-8 first-quarter lead and increased the edge to 18-10 by halftime. In the second half, Westfield outscored Ripley, 27-15 for the victory.
The Lady Eagles were led by Riley Hawkins' 10 points and six rebounds while Sam Judd had five points, four steals and two assists in defeat. Elizabeth Swoger added six boards in a losing effort.
