Sale benefits American Cancer Society
Not so sure about baking Christmas cookies? A local group might have an answer for you. A Christmas cookies and candy sale to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at the Kosciuszko Club on Nevins Street in the city of Dunkirk. The sale is sponsored by the Kosciuszko Club-Paper Factory Relay for Life team.
Water and sewer board to meet
The North County water and sewer districts board meets Saturday at the Dunkirk Town Hall on Willow Road. The board will be examining the water and sewer rates for the districts, which include the Chadwick Bay Industrial Park. The board will meet at 10:15 a.m. on the North County Industrial Water District and at 10:30 a.m. on the North County Industrial Sewer District.
Doug Diers will appear on Senior Report
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Doug Diers as the guest on Saturday's television program. Diers is director of the Chautauqua County Veterans Agency.
The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out.
The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995.
The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change.
Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Forestville, Hanover, Irving and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
Habitat house dedication to be televised
Access Channel 5 will televise the Mid-County Habitat for Humanity house dedication which was recently held in Mayville. The new home is located at 64 W. Chautauqua St. and will be occupied by the Michael Webb family.
The program will air at 3:30 p.m. and at 9:30 p.m. each day beginning on Saturday with the last airing on Dec. 21.
Access Channel 5 is available to cable television viewers in Chautauqua, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman and Westfield.
Cornell Co-op board meets Monday
The Cornell Cooperative Extension-Chautauqua County Board of Directors will be meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.
Date of board meeting changed
The Forestville Village Board has decided to hold its next regular meeting on Dec. 18. The workshop session is at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The normally scheduled time would have fallen on Christmas.
