FREWSBURG - Liz Golubski set a new school record with a 683 series to lead the Silver Creek Black Knights (19-5) to a sweep of the Frewsburg Bears (9-15) on Friday in CCAA Division 2 high school bowling.
Golubski, a member of the bowling team for six years, cracked a 226-237-220-683. The old record was a 621 series.
Silver Creek's linescore read 669-690-605-1,964 while Frewsburg finished with a 580-560-573-1,713.
"It's been something in the making," Silver Creek coach Kevin Rice said of Golubski breaking the school record. "This is her first time going over 600 in high school competition. Her goal is to finish with the top average in the league. She missed the All-Star state team by 40 or 50 pins last year so she wants to reach that. She was in a zone today. We didn't have to make many adjustments and she just kept throwing a consistent shot."
Tessa Gibbon contributed in the win with a 436.
Frewsburg was led by Bridgett Rogers' 509.
In the boys match, Silver Creek (19-9) and Frewsburg (15.5-12.5) bowled to a 2-2 deadlock.
Silver Creek's linescore read 818-721-715-2,254 compared to Frewsburg's 668-797-776-2,241.
