Mary Rose Rotunda

Mary Rose Rotunda, age 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 16, 2012.

Born October 1, 1921 in Arkwright, New York. Mary was a lifelong resident of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area. She was one of seven children of the late Joseph and Jenny (Muscarella) Vecchio.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette (Marty) Gollnitz of Fredonia, N.Y., Mary Ann Kuznicki of San Francisco, CA., and her son, Charles (Andrea) Rotunda of Bradenton, FL.; her 7 grandchildren: Scott Gollnitz, Michael Gollnitz, Mary (Andrew) Horton, Susan (Mark) Kozlowski, Marilyn (Michael) Hamil-ton, Anthony (Dorothee) Rotunda and Nicole Rotunda; 7 great-grandchildren, her brother, Joseph (Sarah) Vecchio of New Jersey, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary was a former member and past President of the Blessed Sacrament Society of Holy Trinity Church for many years, past president of the Wheelock PTA, and a member of the Share & Care Seniors of Fredonia.

After graduating from Forestville High School, she worked at the Van Raalte silk mill in Dunkirk, the Wheelock School, and Twin Fair.

A loving and dedicated homemaker and mother, Mary loved to quilt after retiring and completed a handmade quilt for each of her children and grandchildren before she died.

A parishioner of St. Anthony's Church, she was an avid bingo player and was well known for her cooking and baking.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Rotunda; four brothers, Vincent, Lawrence, John and Charles Vecchio; and one sister, Rose (Vecchio) Saccamano.

Relatives and Friends may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m., Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the LARSON-TIMKO FUNERAL HOME, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, where prayers will be offered Friday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Church, Fredonia, N.Y. at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
