In a battle for first place, the Forestville Hornets (20.5-7.5) edged the Brocton Bulldogs (25-7), 4-0, Wednesday in CCAA Division 2 boys high school bowling.
The Hornets' linescore read 852-779-923-2,554 compared to the Bulldogs' 828-762-863-2,453 at Lucky Lanes.
"We had spares we missed at inopportune times," Brocton coach Kenneth Kowal said. "If you can't pick up spares, you will have a hard time winning."
Forestville's John Murphy led the way with a 252-200-598 while Brad Dillenburg cracked a 213-180-556. Austin Pierce rolled a 177 and Ryan Forbes finished with a 172 game for the winners.
The Bulldogs were led by Taylor Delcamp's 211-190-581 and John Nickerson's 219-529. Steve Krystofiak bowled a 234-508 in a losing effort.

Kubera leads
Marauders to win
Alex Kubera cracked a 257-189-181-627 to help the Dunkirk Marauders down the Gowanda Panthers, 3-1.
Dunkirk's linescore read 942-958-897-2,797 while Gowanda bowled a 752-873-952-2,577 at Lucky Lanes.
Peter Kubera contributed in the win with a 200-187-222-609 while Brandon Haase added a 211-181-557. E.J. Haase bowled a 193-219-569 and Dale Lombardo shot a 172 for the winners.
The Panthers were led by Justin Grimm's 181-210-199-590 and Brent Bogardus' 190-200-556.
In the girls' match, Dunkirk and Gowanda bowled to a 2-2 tie.
The Lady Marauders combined or a 662-742-751-2,155 while the Lady Panthers finished with a 706-666-776-2,148.
Hannah Schnurr led Dunkirk with a 180-147-183-510 while Adrianna Pencek rolled a 172-444. Caitlyn Chase charted a 198-162-494 and Katie Michalski charted a 141 in the win.
For Gowanda, Malyssa Farley shot a 208-181-202-591 and Brittnee Stelley bowled a 143-181-461. Laura Gurney finished with a 147 game and Danielle Lesefske added a 140 game in a losing effort.
Fredonia sweeps Southwestern
Maitland Langworthy's 202-156-487 lifted the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (18-6) to a 4-0 sweep of Southwestern (6-18).
The Lady Hillbillies combined for a 723-773-782-2,278 while the Lady Trojans shot a 545-560-604-1,709 at Jamestown Bowling Company.
Fredonia was aided by Genna Riddle's 171-180-481 and Elizabeth Valvo's 164.
Southwestern's top bowler was Amanda Stewart with a 154-587.
In the boys' match, Fredonia (8-16) fell to Southwestern (16-8), 3-1.
The Trojans' linescore read 949-916-833-2,698 compared to Fredonia's 776-853-904-2,533.
Fredonia's top bowler was Ricky Burgstrom with a 215-193-578. Jeff Rowe bowled a 202 and Collin Schanzlin had a 199.
Southwestern's top bowler was Brett Worland with a 264-211-620. Taylor West finished with a 222-215-191-628.
