GOWANDA - Lorrie "Babe" Nephew, age 77, of Gowanda passed away Thursday December 20, 2012 at the Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk surrounded by family
Born Lorrie J. Eels on the Cattaraugus Territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians on July 3, 1935, the daughter of LaVan and Leora "Sybil" (Parker) Nephew.
Babe was a Registered Nurse and worked for more than 34 years for the JN Adam Developmental Center before her retirement. She received her nursing degree from the E.J. Meyer Memorial School of Nursing in Buffalo. Lorrie was a member of the Four Corners United Methodist Church and was also involved with Seneca Nation Healthy Living Group.

Survivors include 3 sons, Kelly, Kevin and Klint Nephew along with grandchildren Brandon, Lindsey, Leslie, Brooke, Kingsley, Molly, Kelly Jr., Miles, Sarah, Emily, Keagan, Chase and Ezra Nephew. Great grandchildren Ethan, Jordan Jr. Mara and Aleah. Babe is also survived by a brother, Arthur (Denise) Parker Jr. of Gowanda; a sister Karen "Oat" Eels Jimerson of Gowanda and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Babe was preceded in death by her former husband Donald Nephew; and sisters LaVerna "Girlie" Eels and Alicia Eels Jemison.
Friends may call at the family residence, 13241 Rt. 438, Gowanda from 3 to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday where funeral services will be held Monday Dec. 24, 2012 @10am with burial to follow in the United Missions Cemetery Rt. 438. Pastor David Rood will officiate. Memorial contributions in Babe's name can be made to the BROOKS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL (Dialysis Dept), 529 Central Ave. Dunkirk, NY 14048.
