Concetta LaBarbera Raths, age 82, of Dunkirk, NY died Thursday (Dec. 20, 2012) at Buffalo General Hospital.
She was born in Buffalo, NY on May 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Sam and Jessie LaBarbera.
An area resident all of her life, Connie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She enjoyed gardening, the movies and music of the World War II era and spending time with her family and friends.
Many will remember Connie for her 30 years of service at the Dunkirk Free Library.
Surviving are two sons, Kurt (Sally Graves) Raths and Jon Raths, both of Dunkirk; four sisters, Sister Gertrude LaBarbera, Daughters of St. Mary's of Providence of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Josephine (George) Giambrone of Fredonia, Mrs. Laura (Anthony) Gambino, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Santa (Paul) Salisbury of Dunkirk; and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Patricia (Lawrence) Haase of Dunkirk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Vito LaBarbera, John LaBarbera and Sam LaBarbera; and her sister, Angeline Parinella. Also predeceased by her sister-in-law, the late Phyllis (Fritz) Worosz and Connie's husband, John Raths.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Private interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements by the Newman Funeral Home Inc.
