No injuries in Ellery blaze

ELLERY - No injuries were reported after a house fire in the town of Ellery on Friday.

Around 6:45 p.m., a house fire was reported at 4067 Pickard Road in the town of Ellery.

Ellery Center Fire Department responded and was assisted by Ashville, Bemus Point, Maple Springs, Sinclairville and Stockton Fire Departments.

The fire was contained mainly to the first floor of the residence. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to assist in determining the origin and cause of the fire. Upon completion of the investigation, it was determined clothes were left too close to a wood burning stove and the clothes ignited and started the fire.

The fire has been ruled accidental in nature.

On Wednesday, a Dunkirk man was charged with trespass and second-degree harassment after an alleged fight.

Around 5:45 p.m. deputies were called to an address in the town of Pomfret for an alleged fight. After investigation, Brian M. Lesmes, 26, of Dunkirk, was taken into custody and charged with trespass and second-degree harassment. Lesmes was arraigned in the town of Pomfret court and released to appear at a later time. The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Village of Fredonia Police Department.
