Twenty years ago - 1992
Student of the Week is Richard Walker, a senior at Fredonia Central School and the son of Richard A. Walker of Forestville and Linda Walker of Fredonia. He ranks second in his class. Active in Student Council, he has the distinction of being the school's only incumbent council president ever to be re-elected. Richard also works for his grandparents and Walker's Fruit Basket. He plans to one day earn a degree in law.
Thirty years ago - 1982
The upcoming archeological investigation planned for the Canadaway Creek shores got a shot in the arm recently when True Temper Corp. donated eight spades, four shovels, two sledge hammers, an axe, a pick axe, a hammer and a woodsman's camping kit to Fredonia State University College through the College Foundation. The upcoming project is spearheaded by anthropology professor Dr. Alvin Morrison.
Forty years ago - 1972
Angelo Bennice has been re-elected president of the union representing non-uniformed Dunkirk city employees. It will be his 11th one-year term as president.
Fifty years ago - 1962
First prize of $25 in the Fredonia Junior Chamber of Commerce Christmas lighting contest went to Francis Leone of 21 Westerly Drive.
