That lone resolution would confirm Mayor Anthony J. Dolce's appointment of a new fiscal affairs officer to replace Harry Briggs, who was appointed by Dolce to a one-year term on Jan. 1, 2012. City resident Richard Halas was appointed as an independent contractor by Dolce to serve, effective Jan. 7.

Halas will be paid at a rate of $30,000 per year for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Briggs was an independent contractor as well, however his remuneration was set at $20 per hour for 20 hours per week.

Since it is sponsored by the entire council, Resolution 1-2013 is expected to pass easily.

The other pre-filed item on the agenda is a request from Score This !!!, Inc. to hold the third annual Tri Dunkirk triathlon on Aug. 25.

Race Director and vice president Richard J. Clark is requesting the use of city roads and facilities as part of the open water swim, bike race and running event.

"This area makes an excellent venue to host this style of event with athletes commenting on this being their new favorite venue," Clark wrote.

He added that 300 athletes participated in 2012 with 400 expected this year.

"Tri Dunkirk will surely increase visitation to Chautauqua County. Multisport athletes like to explore the areas they visit in many different ways," Clark stated. "If they are provided the information about the surrounding areas activities they will return to explore this in the future."

Wednesday's regular council meeting is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. A meeting of council's Economic Development Committee is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday in City Hall.
