Sewer Board to meet

The Portland-Pomfret-Dunkirk Sewer District Board of Directors has a scheduled meeting for Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the West Town of Dunkirk Town Hall.

Female self defense class set

Albert Ramirez will host a free female self defense class on Jan. 4 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Family Martial Arts Center, 355 Central Ave. in Fredonia next door to the Family Video. Be sure to enter at the LA Nails entrance.

The class will consist of rape prevention, awareness, workplace harassment, dating warning signs and basic and advance self defense drills. Moms are encouraged to participate in the class with their daughters so the children know they have the support from mom. Many times a child hesitates to communicate concerns to the parents out of fear and embarrassment.

The class is designed for ages 12 and up. Woman with disabilities and restrictions are encouraged to attend as organizers will offer the same lesson but will work around that predicament. Bring your own water and wear comfortable attire. A weekly program will be offered to those who may be interested after the seminar. Call 672-6683 or email karateman1965@hotmail.com to register.
