Man rescued from lake Saturday

One man was rescued from his capsized boat Saturday morning by the Dunkirk Fire Department.

According to Dunkirk Fire Lt. Matt Hanlon, the fire department responded at 8:02 a.m. to a call made to the Dunkirk Police Department of a man in the water just off the breakwall near Main Street. Hanlon said the man was hunting ducks when his canoe capsized. Two Dunkirk Fire Department members donned water rescue gear and escorted the man to an Alstar ambulance waiting on the scene to evaluate the victim. He was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital for possible hypothermia.

Hanlon reported the fire department being back in service by 8:12 a.m.

New York State Police at Jamestown

PANAMA - Joshua Phanco, 20, of Lakewood was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on Dec. 27. Troopers responded to a residence in Panama for the report of a violation of an order of protection on Dec. 23. Investigation revealed that Phanco contacted the victim several times by telephone. Phanco was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Harmony Court.

COLDSPRING - Jacob Burroughs, 21, of Steamburg was charged with driving while intoxicated on Jan. 1. Troopers responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on West Perimeter Road. Investigation revealed Burroughs exited the side of the road way and came to rest in a ditch. He failed several field sobriety tests and was transported to the state police barracks. His blood alcohol content was found to be a .14. Burroughs was released on appearance tickets for the Town of Coldspring Court and released to a sober individual.

JAMESTOWN - Mark Johnson, 31, of Ellington was charged with driving while intoxicated on Jan. 5. Johnson was pulled over on East Second Street for multiple traffic violations. He failed several field sobriety tests and transported back to the state police barracks. His blood alcohol content was found to be a .14. He was released on appearance tickets for the City of Jamestown Court and released to a sober individual.
