Richard C. Ward, 83, of Irving, NY passed away December 30, 2012 at his home. Dick was born April 27,
1929 in Jamestown, NY the son of the late Reginald and Emma (Lash) Ward. He graduated from Olean
High School in 1947. Dick was a retired New York State Trooper with 21 years of service. His duties

included portable scale operator, radar detail, vehicle inspection, rifleman and his handle was "Pappa
Bear." Dick was a member of the Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and target shooting. He also raised and trained Labrador Retrievers for a
number of years. Dick and his wife Marlene "Sally" were foster parents from 1963 to 1996 for over 117 children. Survivors include three sons, Richard E. Ward of Irving, Ronald W. (Judy) Ward of Omaha, NE and
William R. Ward of Irving; two brothers, Raymond Ward of Portville, NY and Howard Ward of Phoenix,
AZ; a sister, Susan Seward of Dannemora, NY; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marlene J. "Sally" (Ensell) Ward, a son Robert Ward, a daughter, Ellen Fox and a granddaughter, Regina M. Evans. Private funeral services
will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY.
