"Flight," the action-packed mystery thriller starring Denzel Washington, is the next featured film at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House. It will be screened on Saturday and Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Opera House Cinema Series.
In "Flight," Academy Award-winner Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot, who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whitaker is hailed as a hero; but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault and what really happened on the plane. Directed by Robert Zemekis, "Flight" also stars John Goodman, Don Cheadle and Melissa Leo.
Ann Hornaday, in the Washington Post, calls the film "a refreshingly sophisticated, mature human drama."
“Flight”, which stars Denzel Washington, will be shown at the Fredonia Opera.
Lisa Kennedy, in the Denver Post, calls it "an old-fashioned drama and all the better for it."
Richard Roeper says "Washington gives one of his most nuanced and impressive performances."
Claudia Puig, in USA Today, says "the image of the heroic he-man, so entrenched in Hollywood mythology, takes an intriguing detour with 'Flight'."
Rated R for drug and alcohol abuse, language, sexuality, nudity and an intense action sequence, "Flight" runs 138 minutes.
