Charles Medema was a double winner, but in the end, it was not enough as the Frewsburg Bears swam to a 121-55 victory over the Dunkirk Marauders on Tuesday in CCAA Division 1 boys high school swimming.
Medema took first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.33 and also won the 100 backstroke, as he touched the wall in 1:05.78.
Andrew Saye placed second in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
"One way to measure a team is to look at how they perform from one meeting with a team to the next," Dunkirk coach Bryan Westling said. "In that case, I would say that my team has grown and improved by leaps and bounds since our first meet of the season against Frewsburg. While we took only the same two, first-place finishes we did the first time around, we scored over 20 more points against the very impressive Frewsburg team. With the end of the season speeding towards us, it's looking good for the Dunkirk swimmers. With all the effort they are putting in, I see very good things to come for them."
