JAMESTOWN - Sophomore John Piper equalled his season-high with 23 points, Cam Voss had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Fredonia jumped out to an early lead on its way to toppling Southwestern, 62-48, in Division 1 basketball action on Thursday.
Piper, who is knocking down 43 percent of his shots from beyond the arc this season, hit three triples in this one, helping the Hillbillies (8-3, 5-1) jump out to an 18-5 lead after the first period.
"Our goal was to make him drive to the basket a little more than usual," Southwestern coach Andrew Krenzer said, "but we just lost track of him in our zone."
Southwestern's (6-4, 3-2) top scorer was Alek Peck, who had 17 points to go with his 12 rebounds and four assists, while teammate Kyle Radack finished with 13.
Southwestern will be look to get back in the win column on Tuesday when it travels to Falconer for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
